Most cans hide their formula behind a wall of small print. We'd rather show our work. Here's the whole COCOFUEL label, read top to bottom — what each ingredient is doing in the can, and why the list is as short as it is.
The best test of a drink is whether the front of the can and the back of the can tell the same story. Ours is built to. Everything below is exactly what's printed on the panel — nothing added for a blog, nothing left out.
What's in it
Carbonated coconut water — the base
COCOFUEL is built on coconut water. Not a splash of it for marketing — the coconut water is the base of the can, and it's the first thing on the ingredient list. It naturally carries electrolytes like potassium, which is a big part of why we build on it rather than on carbonated syrup. Carbonating it keeps the drink crisp and light rather than heavy and sweet.
Prebiotic fibre (resistant dextrin) — 5g
Each can carries 5g of prebiotic fibre as resistant dextrin. It's a soluble fibre, which is the practical reason we can use it here: it dissolves clear and adds no grit or thickness to the drink. You won't taste it; it's on the panel because it's in the can.
Cane sugar
Cane sugar is on the ingredient list, in list order. We'd rather you read it there than hear us talk around it.
Acidity regulator (citric acid)
A small amount of citric acid — the same acid that makes citrus taste bright — keeps the can fresh and balanced. That's the entire acidity system, and there are no artificial flavour compounds behind it.
Taurine — 500mg
Taurine is an amino acid that turns up in functional drinks the world over. Ours is a measured 500mg per can, declared on the panel rather than buried in a blend.
Natural caffeine — 150mg
The lift in COCOFUEL comes from natural caffeine. There's 150mg in a 500mL can — 30mg per 100mL, roughly what you'd get from two cups of coffee. We chose a plant source over lab-made caffeine because it's the kind of ingredient you can actually picture. (There's a whole separate post on natural vs synthetic caffeine if you want the detail.)
Potassium & sodium — the electrolytes
Two of the minerals on the panel are electrolytes: potassium (400mg) and sodium (176mg). Both ride in with the coconut water itself rather than being dosed in separately. On the can we call them out under hydration support, and we keep that description to exactly what the label says.
Vitamin C — 75mg
Each can includes 75mg of vitamin C. It's on the panel, it's a round, honest number, and that's all we'll say about it.
Inositol and the B vitamins
Rounding out the list: 6mg of inositol alongside the B vitamins. They're the supporting cast — listed plainly, in order, with nothing dressed up as a headline.
What we left out — and why
A short ingredient list is a series of decisions. These are the three we're most deliberate about:
- No artificial colours. The colour in the can is the colour of what's in it.
- No artificial flavours. Citric acid and the base do the job.
- No synthetic caffeine. The caffeine is natural, full stop.
Sparkling coconut water for the base and its electrolytes, 150mg of natural caffeine for the lift, 5g of prebiotic fibre, 500mg of taurine and a little vitamin C. If a line on the panel didn't earn its place, it isn't there.
That's the whole formula. The best thing you can do with any energy or hydration drink — ours included — is turn it around and read the panel. If you'd like a hand doing that, the next piece walks through how to read one properly.
